A box of mystries- review of Let the Game Begin!

Just finished reading the book ‘Let the Game Begin’ penned by Sandeep Sharma and published by Inspire India Publishers. Before I present my take on this thriller, let us get introduced to the author.

About the author:

Sandeep Sharma (22), author of ‘Hey Dad! Meet my mom…’ is currently working on his start-up venture named ‘Author Paradise’ that works for the benefit of Authors to provide them well-organized Online and offline publicity. By education, he is a civil engineer graduated from JSS Academy of Technical Education, Noida.
He is very passionate about writing and has been writing short stories for a personal blog since six years. He has also co-founded ‘The Author’s Blog’ which is a kind of a platform that tries to bridge the gap between authors and readers. He is an avid reader and loves to review books on his blog. He is a well-known reviewer in the literary world.

About the book:

The first thing we come to know about any book is the title. ‘Let the game begin’ is indeed a catchy title and does go with the book to the fullest.

Next we see the cover. As we know, this book is a thriller, where the game of chess plays a crucial part. The front cover shows a hand-written script on top that is getting burnt. It also shows a black chess Queen on a chessboard. As I read the story, I found connections of the plot with both these pictures. So, all I can say is, the cover page indeed goes with the plot.

Now let us come to the main plot. The book is a thriller where we see serial killings taking place in different parts of the world, mostly India, leading to investigations by the topmost research agency of the nation. The common thing in every such murder is that it is accompanied by a chess piece. When the matter is dug deep, we are taken to a bygone era where we find traces that led to the emergence of this tale, and also of the birth of chess, one of the most popular games of today. Well, I won’t tell anything else about the plot as I want the readers to read the book and explore it themselves.

The hard work that the author has done for weaving this tale can be felt while reading the book. The language used the choice of words is superb! One good thing that I liked in the book is that it sticks with the theme from beginning to end. Since it is a thriller, it has not been diluted with love scenes, etc., just to increase the pages, as done by many authors. The tale is totally unpredictable and gripping till the end.

I would rate the book 4.7 on 5.

At last, I would love to give my best wishes to the author for his next works as well as for his ventures. Sandeep, you have a long way to go, and  I eagerly am waiting for your next book.
