Khan vs Kahn vs Kanh- journey within the Bollywood
Finished reading the book ‘Khan vs Kahn vs Kanh’ by Mr. N.S.
Ravi a good time ago. It felt great to read a fiction by the author whose
previous book (Those were the days) had left a mark in me. Before I give my
take on the book, let us get introduced to the author.
About the author:
N.S. Ravi holds a master’s degree in Economics from DU. He
had a distinguished career in senior positions in public and private sector
enterprises dealing in jewellery, infrastructure, textiles and apparel in
Europe, Africa and India. He speaks English, Hindi, Tamil and French.
This is his second book. His first book titled, Those were
the days was a non-fiction published in 2015. Ravi currently lives in Delhi
with his family.
He can be reached at nuranisravi@yahoo.co.uk.
The book:
The book brings a picture of the Bollywood film industry of
today. It showcases the ups and downs that keep happening in the industry. In
this story, the protagonists are three actors who rule the industry. However,
they have similar surnames. A point comes when they cannot see one another and
thus, going by all the aspects, I feel the author has chosen a very suitable
title for the book.
The cover of the book is pretty simple. Nothing much to say
except that one must not judge the book by its cover, and that good books often
have simple covers.
Coming to the plot now. For a good number of days I had been
looking for some story that focuses on one of the most popular things of every
era, and that is the bollywood film industry. Thanks to the author for bringing
out such a masterpiece.
The main characters of this story are four people- the three
Khans who spell their surnames differently, and Baba Ram Karim. We see the
lives of the three Khans individually and how they ultimately became what they
are today. And then, we see the Baba, who has played a Godfather to many known
faces in the industry and, thus, holds a very respectable position. The story
begins with the Iftaar party of Baba where the three Khans are invited, and
some unwonted things take place, which upsets Baba, and he decides to file a
case against the three Khans. With this, each life unfolds. Every chapter open
up. A book is born. What happens later, and how things come back to normal,
will leave your jaws open. The author has beautifully woven this tale and good amount
of research work and huge effort is evident from this piece.
I’d rate the book 4.9 on 5.
I’d recommend every soul who loves reading, to read this
book. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it to the last page.
I wish my best to Ravi sir! And I must say I’m waiting for
his next masterpiece
